Maryellen Saenger, LMHC

Maryellen Saenger is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who specializes in working with geriatric clients.  She joined the SFCS professional staff in July 2015 and assumed the role of Coordinator of the Aging in Place Initiative the following year.   Maryellen provides outreach, in-home counseling and other social support services to Scarsdale residents age 65 and older.

Prior to joining SFCS, Maryellen worked for White Plains Hospital in their department of behavioral health.  Although she is a certified anxiety and phobia treatment counselor, she has dedicated her career to the  care of senior citizens.  Maryellen is  the SFCS liaison to the Senior Advisory Council, she is a member of the Central Westchester Geriatric Committee and a member of the Centers for Aging In Place.  In 2019, Maryellen obtained national certification in Mental Health First Aid USA by the National Council for Behavioral Health. 

In  December 2019, Maryellen completed the WeSOAR (We are Scholars Open to Aging Reflectively) program at Fordham University and she was awarded a certification from the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services for completing the course.  

Maryellen earned a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from the College of New Rochelle.  She holds an MBA in Finance from Fordham University and she is the current Treasurer of the New York Mental Health Counselors’ Association, Westchester Chapter.
