Soma Vajpayee - SFCS

Judith Levin, LCSW

Soma Vajpayee, CAT-LP

Soma Vajpayee joined the SFCS staff as a child therapist in July 2023.  As a Creative Art Therapist, Soma helps children navigate through their emotions and conflicts using the creative and non-threatening medium of art, which is a natural language for children.  By combining art with cognitive behavior therapy and mindfulness interventions, Soma is able to help children ages 5-10 years old build resilience and positive coping mechanisms.

In addition to working with children, Soma has had clinical experience with populations experiencing progressive diseases, the elderly, and with substance use disorders.  She believes in adapting therapy to suit the unique needs of each client and she ensures that her therapeutic methods resonate with her clients.  Soma understands that every individual heals differently and she employs a flexible approach in working with clients.

Art has always been Soma's passion, although before receiving her Masters in Art Therapy from New York University, she worked as a banker, an entrepreneur, and as a coach, trainer, and facilitator.  Soma's artwork has been displayed in exhibitions in Westchester N.Y., Hong Kong, Prague, and Mumbai.  Soma has lived internationally, spending several years in Hong Kong and India.  She is comfortable with cultural nuances. Soma now lives in Westchester with her husband and three children.
