Darlene Duran, MHC

Darlene Duran joined the SFCS staff in September 2023 as a school counselor at the elementary school level.  Darlene has a passion for working with children, helping them better understand their emotions, improve their social skills and strengthen their positive coping mechanisms.

In her role, she believes in being adaptive to support the unique needs of each child and family. She understands that children need individual and dynamic support, as no one child has the exact same challenges or mindset as another.  She has also pursued additional learning around the needs of gifted and talented students who often have both exceptional strengths as well as some unique challenges.

Following a successful career in Marketing, Darlene worked as a teacher at Westchester Reform Temple Early Childhood Center teaching children age 2 to 4 years old. She has also worked in a therapeutic school setting, providing individual and group mental health counseling for children and teens with a variety of mental health needs. Following this, Darlene worked in private practice, counseling a diverse range of clients.

Darlene earned her B.S. in Business Marketing from the University of Southern California and her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Pace University.
