Counseling and Emotional Support Services

In-Home Counseling and Emotional Support
The Aging in Place (AIP) Program is available to provide in-home counseling and emotional support sessions to aging clients of Scarsdale who are either home bound or with limited mobility.  Our short term services include interventions designed to increase and expand a client's professional and social supports and create linkages of service to a variety of community based resources.  Individual services can also include an assessment of a resident’s physical, psychological, and cognitive capabilities, home and fall assessments and future planning.
Coffee and Conversation
Coffee and Conversation is a casual, open group facilitated by the AIP Coordinator that meets monthly at the Scarsdale Girl Scout House.  The purpose of the group is to promote socialization and a free exchange of ideas.  In September 2018, Coffee and Conversation was enhanced to include guest speakers presenting on topics pertinent to the older adult community.
Friendly Visitor Program
The AIP Coordinator oversees the coordination of friendly volunteers who visit with home bound clients. Interested candidates should contact the office to schedule an intake interview.  All volunteers are thoroughly screened before visiting assignments are provided.
