Hannah Lavan, LMSW
Hannah Lavan is excited to join the professional counseling staff at SFCS as a Licensed Master of Social Work. Hannah completed a bachelors degree from the University of Wales before moving to the United States. She began her professional life as a researcher and worked as an assistant at the New York State Psychiatric Institute at Columbia University Medical Center. The focus of her work was on the effects of early childhood experiences on future health and pathology. While there, she co-authored a paper which examined the relationship between childhood personality traits and risk taking behavior during adolescence.
After several years, Hannah pursued her degree in social work, graduating with an MSW from Fordham University in 2008. Since then she has worked with children and families in various settings in New York City and Westchester. In addition to counseling children and teens, Hannah has facilitated parenting workshops and groups for parents of new infants. Hannah recently completed an additional three years of Post Masters training from the Ackerman Institute for the Family in Manhattan.
