Laura Chavis, LMSW

Laura Chavis, is a Licensed Master Social Worker who joined the SFCS team in Spring 2025. She trained and works at St. Vincent’s Psychiatric Hospital and specializes in mental health and addiction therapy with adults, adolescents, and their families.

Laura brings a collaborative approach to her work, having experience on multidisciplinary teams alongside counselors, psychiatrists, and nurses. In addition to her role at SFCS, she serves as a Senior Addictions Counselor at a local facility in Westchester, where she leads the adolescent program and works with adult clients as well. Her clinical work includes facilitating groups and providing individual and couples therapy.

Her therapeutic style is grounded in a humanistic and family systems approach, with additional training in CBT and DBT to support communication, coping skills, and relationship development.

Laura holds a B.A. in English with a theater concentration from Oberlin College and studied acting at the Circle in the Square Theater Conservatory. She earned her MSW from Fordham University.
