SFCS Privacy Policy

  • The privacy of your client information has always been important to Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service. As a nationally accredited agency, SFCS is bound by professional standards of confidentially. However, we are now required by law to formally inform you of our privacy policy.
  • SFCS collects information that is provided by you or obtained with your signed authorization. This information may come from various sources, including personal interviews, evaluation results, self-reports or other documents necessary to provide you with our services.
  • SFCS does not disclose any information about our clients or former clients to anyone, except as permitted or required by law or when requested by a client.
  • SFCS restricts access to personal information about you to the members of our agency. Collaboration is only with your written permission. SFCS case records relating to the professional services that we provide to you are maintained for a period of ten years.
  • Under the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA), you have certain rights to privacy regarding your protected behavioral healthcare information. In the course of providing service to you, we create, receive, and store information that identifies you. It is often necessary to use and disclose this health information in order to treat you, to obtain payment for our services, and to conduct operations involving our office.
