The Scarsdale Safe Coalition: Children, Families, Community Presents:
Denim Day- Wednesday April 26, 2023

On Wednesday April 26, 2023 the Scarsdale Safe Coalition, Children, Families, Community   encourages you to wear jeans with a purpose.  Denim Day has become a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault.  In this rape prevention education campaign we ask community members, elected officials, businesses and students to make a social statement with their fashion by wearing jeans on this day as a visible means of protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual assault.

The campaign was originally triggered by a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. Peace Over Violence developed the Denim Day campaign in response to this case and the activism surrounding it.

Youth-Mental Health First Aid
Free Virtual Course
Monday December 14, 2020
9:00 am- 2:00 pm

**Second Session added- Thursday December 17th 9:00 am-2:00pm***

***This course is designed for adults who regularly interact with adolescents, including teachers, first responders, coaches, parents, or any caring adult.

Would you know what to do if a child was experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis? Learn how to help!

YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID is a nationally recognized
certification course that:
• Teaches the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health challenges common among adolescents, ages 12 to 18
• Offers a 5-step action plan that equips adults to help youth experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis
• De-stigmatizes mental issues so youth receive the help they need at the earliest possible time.

Mental Health First Aid training is more essential than ever as communities nation-wide face increasing mental health-related challenges in the wake of the tragic COVID-19 pandemic.  Just as CPR helps participants assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps participants assist those experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis.

The training will be provided by Certified Mental Health First Aid instructors who offer concrete tools and answers to key questions, such as “what do I do?” and “where can someone find help?”

Advance registration is required, so please use this LINK to register.  For a printable version of the flyer, click HERE.
