“When The Empty Nest Empties (Well, Almost!)”

Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service is pleased to announce the formation of a six session discussion group for parents of teens who are in college. Groups will be offered in the evenings and will meet at the Harwood Building.

Topics will include:

• Tips for a smooth transition
• How to prepare your young adult child for the challenges ahead
• Changing family dynamics
• The first time home as a college student
• How to remain involved, but not become a “helicopter parent”

Whether one is caring for a parent in their own home or overseeing their care in a residential community, many adults feel overwhelmed and stressed with the responsibilities of caring for their families, their parent, and accomplishing their own daily tasks.

Based on requests from the community, Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling
Service (SFCS) recently created a new support group for caregivers to older adults. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month from 11:30-12:30 PM and we will meet monthly in room 303 of The Harwood Building. The cost is $125 for ten monthly meetings facilitated by a social worker. Contact Susan Gilbert if you would like to attend.
