SFCS News & Information
Groups at SFCS
SFCS offers a support group for grandparents who now find themselves caretaking for grandchildren or lending support to adult children. If you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed by these situations, or just want to share experiences and gather ideas, please call SFCS at (914) 723-3281 or e-mail us at info@sfcsinc.org. All groups are offered in a private and confidential setting and fees are on a sliding scale. Please let us hear from you.
SFCS announces the continuation of its social skills groups for children beginning January, 2009. Groups offer children ages five to twelve years, skills in developing friendships, coping with shyness, improving self-esteem, and building confidence. Participants are grouped by age and skills and groups average four to six members.
SFCS is also offering a children of divorce group. These groups for children who are coping with their parents’ divorce offer emotional support in a confidential setting among peers who are experiencing similar concerns.
To register for children groups, please contact SFCS group leader,
Suzanne Calgi, at (914) 723-3281 or scalgi@sfcsinc.org.
Volunteer Opportunity
The Older Adult Services program is seeking volunteers, age 65 and over, to participate in an intergenerational program with Scarsdale Middle School students. Last year’s successful program matched older adults from the community with enthusiastic 6th graders who interviewed the seniors over 3 days and wrote their biographies. This year’s date are April 28th, May 5th, and May 12th. Transportation will be provided from the Girl Scout House to Scarsdale Middle School.
For more information, please call the Director of the Older Adult Program
JD Sullivan at (914) 723-3281 or jdsullivan@sfcsinc.org.
It starts with an open door
