Youth Services
THE YOUTH SERVICE PROJECT, PARTNERS IN PREVENTION: The Scarsdale Community Youth Service Project is a partnership of Scarsdale Village, Scarsdale Schools and Scarsdale § Edgemont Family Counseling Service. The Youth Service Project places a team of Youth Outreach Workers in both Scarsdale Middle School and Scarsdale High School for daily emotional support and counseling, crisis intervention, and parent support and education.
In 2007, Scarsdale § Edgemont Family Counseling Service expanded their Youth Service project to the Edgemont High School community. Mitch Shapiro, Ph.D. is available on a daily basis for individual and group counseling and for peer leadership. Emily Vallario, LCSW will be co-leading the peer leadership program with Dr. Shapiro. SFCS was pleased to enter into this partnership with the Edgemont High School on behalf of youth and families. For further information, please call Dr. Shapiro at (914) 725-1500 x 1585 or Emily Vallario (914) 723-3281.
ADVENTURE BASED COUNSELING (ABC): During the summer, project staff offer daily outdoor trips through our Adventure Based Counseling for boys and girls 11 to 14 years of age. Join Scarsdale § Edgemont Counseling Service for mountain biking,
rock climbing, and water adventures that build confidence and self-esteem in a fun-filled environment. For additional information,

“TALKABOUT" is the name Scarsdale § Edgemont Counseling Service gives to a variety of groups which offer social skills development for children ages 5 to 13 who can benefit from learning and strengthening specific skills. Through a variety of activities, which include interactive role-plays and discussions, children can build confidence in a comfortable, small group setting. Other TALKABOUT
groups include children of divorce. All groups meet after school at the office of SFCS. For additional information, please contact
Suzanne Calgi of SFCS at scalgi@sfcsinc.org
